Mkts dismiss Rail Budget, end flat ahead of expiry
The Nifty closed flat ahead of FO expiry. The February 2010 futures and options (FO) contracts will expire tomorrow. Mamata Banerjee�s Rail Budget, which was high on both populism and vision, couldn�t provide momentum to the markets. The Nifty traded in a narrow range of 48504870 for most part of the day.

Nifty tests 4850; pharma, auto, banks, power slide
At 14.57 hrs IST, Nifty was trading close to 4850 mark ahead of expiry. European markets were marginally trading in red. It seems that Nifty will mirror its yesterday's movement and give a flat close ahead of expiry tomorrow.

Sensex choppy ahead of expiry; Tata Motors, MM dip
At 13.21 hrs IST, Sensex was trading in a narrow band of 50 points. It was a quiet day for the markets ahead of expiry. Mamata Banerjee's railway budget had no real surprises for the markets and railway stocks.

Nifty lackluster; Titagarh, Texmaco, Kernex dip
At 11.52 hrs IST, Nifty was trading marginally in red ahead of expiry. The auto index continued to drag the markets down. Consumer durables, metals, pharma, realty and bank stocks were also marginally trading in red. Buying was seen in FMCG and capital goods stocks.

Sensex flat ahead of Rail Budget; IT, cap goods up
At 10.11 hrs IST, the Sensex was trading flat ahead of the Rail Budget. After a gap down opening of 100 points, the Sensex recovered most of it early morning losses. Selling pressure continued in auto, metal and banking stocks. Buying was seen in IT and capital goods stocks.

Nifty flat; Maruti, ONGC, SAIL, Hero Honda, MM dip
Nifty opened lower after weak opening in Asian markets. Selling was seen in realty, metal and auto stocks. All BSE sectoral indices were trading in red barring FMCG. BSE Midcap and Smallcap indices were trading in red.

Sensex ends with marginal gains; realty, metal gain
The Sensex closed with marginal gains amid lacklustre session. Buying was seen in realty, metal, pharma, IT and banking stocks while auto, oil gas stocks witnessed selling pressure. Infosys, ICICI Bank, LT, ITC and HDFC were the positive contributors to the Sensex.

Sensex quiet; auto stocks lose steam prior to Budget
At 14.56 hrs IST, the Nifty was trading flat, in a narrow band of 48504875 range for the entire day. The auto index was down close to 2% in anticipation of rollback of 2% excise duty. Auto stocks were dragging the markets down. Pharma, metal and banking stocks saw some marginal buying.
